The Chivalric Martinist Order (+CMO+) is a free and independent expression of Templar Spirituality and Martinism updated for the 21st Century.  The teachings, practices, and initiation of the Order encourage the initiate to lead a vertical life of spiritual alignment and a horizontal life of service.

Work in the Chivalric Martinist Order centers on embracing those mysteries that lead to Grace which lie at the Heart of the Rose and Cross; linking that which is above to that which is below; and employing theurgical practices in the service of Light, Life, Love, and Liberty (the Keys of the Way).

The Motto of the Order is; “The greatest among you will be your servant" (Mathew 23:11).  The Scripture of the Order is; “Blessed are the Peacemakers, for they shall be called sons (and daughters) of God” (Mathew 5:9).  The Emblem of the Order is Christ washing the Feet of the Disciples.

Templar Chivalry was founded in 1118 A.D. by the French Knight Hughes de Payns.  Martinism is a form of 18th Century Mystical Christianity named after Louis Claude de Saint-Martin.  The Christian, Gnostic, Cabalistic, Hermetic, and Rosicrucian teachings, practices, and initiation of the +CMO+ are grounded in living, universal, interior spiritual forces whose exterior forms evolve and adapt to ever-changing conditions.  Spiritual Principles are not bound by precedence.  No outer form is permanent.  The stream of Light and Life flows endlessly from one form to another.  Thus, the +CMO+ is conservative as to Principles and progressive as to forms.

The +CMO+ possesses multiple lines of initiatic filiation and follows the example of Saint-Martin who transmitted the full initiation of Serviteur Inconnu (Unknown Servant) by breath, word, and imposition of hands without unnecessary complexity or requirements.  In this regard St. Martin wrote; “The only help anyone can offer another in his (her) search is to provide in the simplest way possible, the aids by which he (she) can enter into the depths of his (her) own being.”  The Chivalric Martinist initiation is a Christian initiation and chivalric dubbing that serves to deepen recognition and realization of the Indwelling Light of Christ.  As St. Martin wrote; “Everything depends on the one thing needful, the birth of the Word (Light) within us.”

In the spirit of the Martinist Order of Papus, the Teachings and Initiation of the +CMO+ are freely offered to all adults who sincerely desire and request them.  There are no fees or dues.

The Chivalric Martinist Order is grounded in a set of core seed thoughts (not required articles of faith) summarized below:

  1. There is one God—Sacred Unity.
  2. The Transcendent Cosmic Christ or Christos is timeless and universal.
  3. Collective Humanity is one Noble and Divine Being.  In Spirit there is no separation.
  4. A Holy Spark exists within each individual as the Indwelling Christ.  The task of humanity, collectively and individually, is to fully evoke the Indwelling Christ and recognize and realize Sacred Unity.  This is also called reintegration.
  5. Ours is but one way, not the only way.  There is no "only way."  As Christian mystics, we embrace Master Jesus (Yeshua) as our guide, model, Hierophant and spiritual elder brother.  The Divinity that manifested in Master Jesus differs in development, but not in quality, from that which is latent in each.  He is the Great Example, not the exception.  The focus is not about "believing in" Jesus but upon developing a deep, living relationship with his teachings and with the Divinity he knew so intimately--the Sacred Unity, which in his native language of Aramaic, he called Allaha.
  6. The service of the initiate (Chevalier) is to cultivate nobility of character; actualize innate spiritual potential; and serve by way of example, as an ambassador of Light, Life, and Love.

"The Order, in its whole, is above all a school of moral chivalry ... We simply remain fervent Knights of Christ..."(Papus)
